UWS President’s Message

Someone once asked Monet about an especially lovely floral painting that he never sold. He said he kept it so that when he got discouraged or hit an “artist’s block” he could look at the painting and remind himself that if he completed the beautiful painting once, he could do it again. He was not the only artist to use this strategy. It’s good advice for all of us. Keep one of your best paintings close to remind you that you can paint something equally lovely again!

We have exciting things happening these last few months of our calendar year:

Our Spring workshop will be held May 6, 7, 8. Julie Rogers will be our guest artist. Julie has received national recognition for her paintings, including recognition as the top female religious artist in the United States. Her pioneer paintings evoke feelings of the trials and triumphs experienced by those who pushed the westward boundaries of America. It’s also amazing to note that she almost always finds a descendant look alike to serve as her reference. Whatever your artistic interest, this will be a wonderful workshop to attend.

The Spring Exhibit will begin on May 8 with our Opening Reception from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Provo Library. Watch for UWS Blast updates on everything UWS and remember to save one of your favorite works as inspiration. Keep painting!
